When you open your bathroom drawer, is it this messy too? It can’t be just me.

Please don’t tell me it only happens in my house…  This is Alycia from Our Homestead Where My Heart Is.  With 4 kids, way too many toothbrushes/toothpaste samples, and toys everywhere chaos can happen before you know it.  Especially if you’re like me.  I have a 2-year-old who really enjoys brushing her teeth on her own and a 4-year-old who carries legos everywhere.

I have always taught my kids to brush their teeth at least every morning and evening.

But one day I noticed my 9-year-old son’s teeth looking pretty darn yellow. Every day he marked toothbrushing off on his chore chart, so I assumed he was doing it. When I questioned him about it, he just said that his toothbrush was missing.  That didn’t include a timeline for how long it had been gone.

So I marched right up to their bathroom assuming he was just being lazy and found this disaster.  Apparently the 2-year-old thought all of the toothbrushes were hers, so she used them all and carried them around the house, so they were getting lost. Whoops…  I’m going to show you how I got the drawer to go from THIS:

Everyone will be able to find what is rightfully theirs, and you don’t even have to invest in a labelmaker!

It all starts with just a little bit of TAPE. I got mine from the Target dollar section.

Then I went to my local Dollar Store and picked up four of these small bins, one for each kid. (These bins on Amazon are similar.)

Label small bins with a different tape for each child

I let each of the kids pick out their very own tape and started by putting a strip on the inside and outside of each end.

This doubles the strength and protects it from accidentally getting peeled off if something touches the sticky side.

Add each child’s tape to their toothbrush and toothpaste

After labeling the boxes I took the extra step and put coordinating tape on each individual toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss.

Even if they get knocked over, everything that falls out can easily find it’s way back where it belongs.

See, all better. It’s a beautiful system.

Now, every morning and evening my kids are able to brush their teeth on their own without fighting over who’s toothpaste is who’s.

And the BEST part is that I see this when I open the drawer!
