Learn how to make a spring banner from old book pages. You’ll love this fun spring craft with some blue paint, twine and old book pages!

Hi there! I’m Meg from Green With Decor, where I talk about all sorts of home renovating, decorating and DIY projects.

I have a fun spring DIY project to share today! I’ve had banners up on our mantel for Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day, and it was looking a little bare without a banner up there for spring so I decided to make one.

I had some blue paint left over from a spring project last year and decided to use it for this project, too.

How to make a spring banner from old book pages:

1. Trace your banner panels.
I used my St. Patrick’s banner as a template.

2. Paint your design on each banner panel.
I’ve had this bird stencil for awhile and was excited to finally use it. Tape the stencil on top of the book pages so it doesn’t move when you’re painting.

A paint roller is the easiest way to get a clean paint line when using a stencil. The less paint, the better so it doesn’t pool.

Let it dry.

3. Cut out your banner panels.

4. Attach the twine.
Flip the panels over and tape twine to the back of the panels to form a banner. I used my best judgement to keep the panels an equal distance apart and tape the twine at about the same spot on the back of each panel. Of course, you could always measure if you want to be exact!

5. Hang up and display!
I added some blues and greens to the mantel to get it all set for spring.

  1. I love this idea! I have a friend who owns a used book store and this would be a perfect way to add a little book themed decor to her store.
