Ingredients
112 Inch Straw Wreath
1RollRed Yarn
1RollWhite Yarn
1RollNavy Yarn
5White Felt Stars
Instructions
Begin by using a dot of hot glue to secure the end of the navy yarn onto the wreath. This side will be considered the “back” of your wreath. Allow the glue a minute to set then continually wrap the yarn around the wreath. Keep the yarn pulled tight as you wrap. After you reach the desired thickness for the navy section of your wreath secure the end of the yarn to the backside of the wreath with another dot of hot glue.
Next follow the same steps to cover the rest of the wreath in the desired thickness of red and white stripes. Alternate the red and white stripe sections until your DIY Yarn Wreath is completely covered in yarn.
After your wreath is covered in red, white and blue attach either a piece of yarn to the backside of the wreath to serve as a hanger. I braided two pieces of yarn in all three colors to create my hanger but a simple piece of yarn, ribbon or jute secured with hot glue will do the trick just fine. Finally, use hot glue to secure the white felt stars to the navy blue section of your patriotic wreath to emulate the look of the American flag.
Notes
Just follow each step and you’ll be able to make your own patriotic DIY Yarn Wreath! I prefer to leave my straw wreath wrapped in the plastic covering; however, you can remove the plastic before you begin if preferred. An alternative to the thickness of the straw wreath would be stacking two foam wreaths. (You can see where I did that here.)
