Ingredients
1lb.sausagethe kind in a tube
1lb.Ground Beef
1Onionminced (you can use any kind, but I prefer red for the color)
2lbs.Velveeta cheese
1 10oz.can of Rotel tomatoes
1 10oz.can cream of chicken soupreduced sodium or heart healthy if you can find it
1tspGarlic Powder
1tspcayenne pepper
Instructions
Brown the sausage and ground beef together with the onion in a large pot or skillet with high sides. Drain the fat.
Slice the cheese into 1-2" cubes.
Add all of the ingredients to the slow cooker and cook on low.
Stir every 30 minutes until completely melted, about 2 hours.
Notes
All of the ingredients of the cheese dip tend to be a little salty, so I prefer to buy low sodium or "heart healthy" ingredients when I can. You can always add more salt if needed, but you can't really take it out. Rotel has a "no salt added" version, and I can usually find a heart healthy version of the cream of chicken soup.
