Making your own eco-friendly chemical-free essential oil cleaning products is easy with simple household ingredients and essential oils.

Hi there! It’s Amanda from Life at Cloverhill. Over the last few years, I’ve switched to using fewer commercial products and making more of my own cleaning supplies. Not only are they inexpensive, but they’re a great way to limit the number of chemicals we’re exposed to in our homes. Today I’m sharing three of my favourite essential oil cleaning products. Each of these DIY cleaning product recipes takes less than a minute to mix up.

Citrus Furniture Dusting Spray

With sticky little toddler fingers at our house, our wood surfaces are always in need of a good cleaning and a little polish. This dusting spray is easy to mix and smells lovely enough to almost make dusting fun.

In a spray bottle, combine:

Give it a good shake to mix all the ingredients. Shake bottle again before each use.

Spray directly on furniture and wipe with a clean dry towel. Use within 1 month, as olive oil can go bad over time.

Two Ingredient Carpet Deodorizer

Between kids, dogs and living on a farm, our carpets take a real beating and can smell worse for the wear. Whenever things need a little freshening up, I whip up this carpet deodorizer in a jiffy.

In a mason jar, combine:

Stir to mix everything well.

For an easy shaker jar, cut a piece of cardboard to fit inside the metal collar and punch a few holes in it.

Shake the deodorizer liberally on your carpets and allow to sit for 1-2 hours. Vacuum area one or two times to remove deodorizer while leaving a subtle fresh scent.

Everyday Sink Scrub

There is something about waking up to a clean kitchen that makes the day start off on the right foot. It’s why I’m happy to take a couple of minutes every night to give our kitchen sink a quick clean with this easy sink scrub that’s gentle enough for everyday use.

In a mason jar, combine:

Mix in the mason jar and add an easy shaker top (see directions above).

After I’m done with the dishes every night, I sprinkle a little of this in the sink, along with a squirt of dishwashing soap and give the sink a good scrub with a soft brush. Rinse and go to bed!
