Instructions to Make Valentine’s Day Felt Fortune Cookies

1. Trace and Cut Felt Circles

The first thing you need to do to make these cute felt fortune cookies is trace and cut out the felt circles. I used a mason jar lid (about  3 1/4 in across) to make my circles so they would all be the same size. When cutting, try to cut on the inside of the lines so that there is no ink showing once the circles are cut out.

2. Cut Pipe Cleaners and Glue to Middle of Each Circle

After you have the circles prepared, cut a small piece of matching pipe cleaner that is slightly shorter than the diameter of your circle. Use hot glue to attach it right in the middle of a felt circle. Allow the glue to dry.

3. Fold Circle in Half

Next, add a small line of glue right along the inside edge of one half of the circle, and then fold the circle in half and seal it. Be careful to not make the line of glue too long as you need a small part on each side of the half-circle to be open.

Now insert the fortune into the half-circle leaving just a little bit sticking out from one side.

4. Fold Into Fortune Cookie Shape

Take hold of both ends of the half circle — I usually insert a finger into the little holes on each side of the half-circle and place my thumbs side by side on the flat edge of the circle right at the middle. Now start bending the two sides backwards towards each other so that the pipe cleaner is bending right in the middle.

5. Pinch Ends of Pipe Cleaner Together

Next, pinch the two sides of pipe cleaner together right at the bend so the cookie holds its shape. And if your felt fortune cookie looks a little flat, simply insert your little finger into each side and poof them out a bit.

Ta dah! Your Valentine’s Day felt fortune cookies are finished! So cute, right!?

Now all that’s left is to place your Valentine’s Day Felt Fortune Cookies in a decorative box or bag, print out the free printable Valetine’s Day gift tag, and attach it to the package. Now you’ve got the perfect, personalized Valentine’s Day gift!
