Have some old ornaments that are no longer your style? Follow this tutorial for an easy DIY Christmas ornament to make using old ones and some on trend fabric.

Hey y’all, it’s Cat from Mary Martha Mama.  Christmas is coming up and I love the decorating.  Styles change over the years and I’ve got a few ornaments that could use some updating.  Today I’m sharing an easy Christmas ornament to make with an old ball ornament and some fabric.

Craft Tools Needed:

  • hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • pinking shears

Supplies Needed:

  • ball ornaments
  • fabric
  • ribbon

Instructions:

1. Cut your fabric into strips.

Use the pinking shears to cut the fabric into strips.  I found that strips of about 1/2 inch worked well for my ornaments.

2. Glue the first strip of fabric onto the ornament.

Pop the top off of the ornament ball.

Glue the first strip just below the neck of the ornament.  Pull the other end of the strip across the ornament and glue that end to the opposite side of the ornament.

3. Glue the second strip of fabric onto the ornament.

Glue the second strip onto the ornament running perpendicular to the first, so that you make a cross shape.

4. Keep adding fabric strips.

Glue the strips on just like you did with the first two, gluing just below the neck and stretching across the ball to the opposite side.

5. Add fabric strips until the ball is covered.

Keep gluing strips on until the ball is covered completely.  Then pop the top back onto the ornament.

6. Add ribbon.

Add a ribbon to hang the ornament.  I also added a bow I made from the ribbon to add a little more color.  Now you’re done!  Wasn’t that an easy Christmas ornament to make?
