Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix recipe is more than just a recipe! Layer these ingredients in a jar and you have yourself a last minute DIY Christmas gift!
Hello, Kenarry: Ideas for the Home friends! I’m Pam from The Birch Cottage and I’m back again this month to share my Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix recipe with you. This hot chocolate mix is also a quick and easy last minute DIY Christmas gift idea!
Believe it or not, I’ve been thinking about you ever since I shared my Vanilla Pumpkin Pie Spice Sugar Scrub with you last month. I’ve been contemplating what to share with you this month and although I’ve tossed around a few ideas, I finally decided to share this Homemade Hot Chocolate Mix recipe with you. However, it’s more than just a recipe! Layer these ingredients in a jar and you have yourself a last minute DIY Christmas gift!
Hot chocolate and Christmas go together like cold weather and snow. You just shouldn’t have one without the other! We live in the Midwest and winters here can be very unpredictable. I’m of the opinion that if it’s going to be cold, gray and gloomy outside, it might as well be a productive cold and snow! I love the snow. It just makes everything seem brighter. Kind of like hot chocolate. It just makes the winters and time spent with family during the holidays that much brighter.
My husband is “THE” hot chocolate maker in our house. He takes hot chocolate to a whole new level by using real cream, vanilla and a heavy hand when it comes to the cocoa and sugar, plus a couple of secret ingredients. His hot chocolate is rich and decadent. A real treat that our children look forward to every year.
I happen to have a stash of empty Starbucks bottles in my pantry and I thought they’d make the perfect container for gift giving the homemade hot chocolate mix. You can layer the ingredients in the bottle or Mason jar for a nice presentation or mix all the ingredients up in a bowl and pour into your container.
If you’re anything like me, you always have last minute gifts to buy or guests who happen to stop by unexpectedly during the holidays. Having a few of these jars on hand will ease the stress of having to buy, figure out or even make last minute, unexpected or forgotten gifts. If you have the time, you could even pair the homemade hot chocolate mix with a mug or maybe even a gift basket with a Christmas movie, candy canes and some microwave popcorn. The combinations and ideas are endless!
