Hello, Kenarry readers! I’m Pam from The Birch Cottage, and I’m back again this month sharing with you this collection of 25 DIY Heart Sachets to make for Valentine’s Day. This collection of adorable heart-themed sachets is sure to inspire you!

In fact, If you’ve been around Ideas for the Home by Kenarry for very long, you probably know that one of the most popular blog posts for the past two years is this tutorial for Handmade Lavender Sachets created by Amanda from Life at Cloverhill.

So, taking inspiration from Amanda, I’ve put together this collection of heart-themed sachets that I think are just perfect for Valentine’s Day gift-giving or for adding little touches of heartfelt whimsy to your home.

Plus, when you add a little lavender or essential oil to the sachets, your home will be smelling like springtime in no time. (And, aren’t we all dreaming a little bit more about warmer weather right about now?)

How to Make Heart sachets

Although I’m not sharing a specific tutorial or pattern with you today, I am sharing 25 DIY ideas that will hopefully inspire you to make your very own heart sachets for Valentine’s Day.

Having said that, there are a few things you may want to have on hand before you begin this project. In fact, if you’re a crafter, you probably already have on hand exactly what you need to get started.

What you need:

Tools needed: 

  • scissors
  • sewing machine
  • hand sewing needle
  • pinking shears or rotary cutter with pinking blade
  • cutting machine (my favorite!)
  • fabric cutting mat

Supplies Needed: 

  • scraps of fabric
  • scraps of felt
  • batting
  • polyester filing
  • lavender buds
  • essential oil
  • buttons, ribbons and other notions
  • thread
  • embroidery thread
  • iron-on vinyl
  • fabric glue
  • stamps and ink pad

No matter if you sew, crochet, knit, cross-stitch, embroider or prefer no-sew crafting options, I’ve got you covered. So, come be inspired with me!

1. Scented Heart Sachets

2. Quilted Heart

Quilted Heart Sachet Free Tutorial from The Crafty Quilter

I love just about anything that is quilted and The Crafty Quilter does a fantastic job of explaining this project. Julie makes it look so easy. To complete this quilted heart project, you’ll want to have some coordinating 5″ squares of fabric, batting, polyester filling, and some ribbon.     These are always a welcome gift because they do lose their scent over time. Great “non-food” gift that keeps on giving for a long time. Can also be customized for a man or woman, and made with scraps, which I appreciate!
