Welcome to Ideas for the Home by Kenarry, crafty friends! My name is Lisa and I am the founder of the Moments With Lisa blog. I love to focus on fashion and home decor, and how I am currently raising a family of four in a 1000 sq. foot condo.

We moved into our condo only a little over a year ago and yes, I am still in the midst of decorating it. When it comes to home decor, I am going the route of using natural textiles, earth-toned color palettes, etc. This is why I recently put together a very pretty DIY Rope Basket.

DIY Rope Basket Tips:

Use Any Kind of Rope

For this particular craft, we went for a rope that we purchased at the local craft store. It was 24 yards long and 0.23 inches in diameter. You can opt for something thicker (though we wouldn’t go thinner).

Feel Free to Paint The Finished Product

You may use acrylic paint to add some color to your finished DIY rope basket. I recommend using a foam brush to get an even layer of paint on the rope.

Pull on the rope tight

As you are adding layers of rope around the plastic bin, be sure you pull it taught so that it looks as clean cut as possible.

Be sure to cover the entire bin

To make sure your basket looks its best, be sure to cover every detail of it. If you are using a bin like mine, then it may not be completely flat/even. I had two handles on the side that I decided to cover with rope so that no plastic would be exposed.

Feel Free to use other types of bins and baskets

Don’t have a plastic bin on-hand? You can also use a small plastic waste basket, or even a cardboard box.

What can i put inside my basket?

I love using this basket for adding in trinkets that don’t always have a home: mainly cables, cords, and chargers. The one I use for my children’s room, I use to put toys that they’re really loving for the moment: this way they can reach for them easily! (Versus going into a specific, larger bin).
