Fake flowers sit in a homemade wood vase made with macrame rings

We recently moved into our new condo unit and we are in absolute love. It has taken me years to think of a home decor style that I love most. I feel like after years of decorating and experimenting, I have finally found my sense of style.

This style leans towards boho aesthetic, where I make good use of neutral tones, textures, and natural materials and elements like wood, plants, etc.

DIY Wood Vase Tips:

You can use as many rings as you want

To make your very own boho wood vase, you can use as many rings as you want. Remember, the more rings, the taller your vase will be. I opted for 7 and it made for about 3-4 inch vase: so very small and perfect for side tables, small desks, etc.

You can make a base, but it’s not necessary

I knew that I’d only be using faux flowers for this particular vase, so to make my DIY ultra simple, I didn’t bother making a base for it. Call me extremely modern, but I am also the type of person to not necessarily put flowers in my vase, and I use it as a piece of decor on its own. A base was not absolutely necessary for my needs.

However, you can put one (I still don’t suggest using it for soil and water). All you have to do is trace one of the rings on a scrap piece of cardboard and cut it out. Then glue a ring on top of the cut out and start stacking from there.

feel free to paint your boho vase

What’s great about this project is that you can paint the vase whichever color you like. Of course, it’s optional (I opted to stick with the natural wood). I recommend using a simple acrylic craft paint.
