Our easy to make bird feeders are perfect for the fall months when the birds need to build a fat reserve to get ready for migration.
Hi everyone, It’s Erica from Messy Momma Crafts. I’ve been crafting a lot lately and love to recycle while I do so. Last month I shared my Paper Towel Roll Indian Corn craft and wanted to do another upcycled project for fall. My Easy to Make Paper Towel Roll Bird Feeders are the perfect fall craft to feed the cute and colorful birds in your yard.
I love being able to look outside and see the birds that frequent our yard and there’s no better way to get them there than to have yummy bird feeders ready for them when they arrive.

Peanut butter substitute ideas
If you or someone in your family is allergic to peanut butter, you can also use Sunbutter or another nut-free butter. You just want to pick something that is sticky that will make the birdseed stick to the toilet paper roll.
How to Make Your Own Birdseed
It’s pretty easy to buy premixed birdseed from the store. But if you want, you can also make your own birdseed mix. One Good Thing by Jillee has a fantastic tutorial.
Some of the ingredients you will need are:
- Sunflower seeds
- Millet
- Shelled peanuts
- Cracked corn
- Dried fruit
