Watercolor paint (or acrylic paint)- the color of your child’s choice.
Wiggly eyes (optional)
Sharpie or black marker (optional)

Could I Use Colored Card Stock or regular white paper Instead?

You could use white paper if you plan to frame this, but even then, I recommend white card stock over the white paper as the paper doesn’t crinkle after drying when watercolor paint is used.

You could use a light pastel colored card stock if your child chooses to use a dark paint color, but the black type print that reads “To The Best Dad Hands Down” stands out best on white card stock.

How should my child place their hands?

In line with the card, you would need to place your child’s handprints on the card inverted.

If your child is older and if you’re able to get your child to place both hands on the card at the same time, try and have them position the hands with the thumbs touching and the two index fingers touching each other. This helps form a heart shape in the gap between the fingers.
