Create beautiful DIY Thanksgiving cards with a few inexpensive craft supplies and a Cricut cutting machine.
Hello! Michelle from Our Crafty Mom sharing DIY Thanksgiving cards that you can create in just a few minutes. I love to give (or receive) any kind of handmade gift and DIY cards are some of my favorite.
Homemade cards are not only fun to make, but they are also a thoughtful way to show you care. Thanksgiving is the perfect time to express to your friends and family how thankful you are for them. So let’s get to the cardmaking fun!
One of the things I love about owning a Cricut is I can whip up beautiful cards in no time. Plus, supplies are minimal, making it a budget-friendly craft.
How to Make DIY Thanksgiving Cards
One thing I always have in my craft stash is pretty cardstock in an array of colors. You never know when you will need a last-minute birthday card or anniversary card. There is nothing worse than having to stop at the store trying to find a card that you like. Not to mention, have you seen the price of store-bought cards recently?

Tips for DIY Thanksgiving Cards:
Add Layers
One of the things that really makes a handmade card stand out, is to use layers. It’s best to have a heavy cardstock as the bottom layer, then a decorative paper, like glitter paper or marble paper as shown in this card.
I also recommend using coordinating colors and styles. The deep eggplant paper I chose pops with the silver glitter paper.
Paper pads are great to keep on hand. They are often on sale at craft stores, or you can use a coupon. They come in so many cool designs and also have holiday styles.
Find a Design in Design Space
There are so many beautiful images available in Cricut Design Space. I simply searched “Thanksgiving” and found a couple of designs with a cut out. The cut out design is perfect for glitter paper.
Use good adhesive
One of the things I learned many years ago with scrapbooking was the adhesive you use really makes a big difference with papercrafts. I’m not a fan of using glue sticks and I have tried! Tape runners work great and they are fairly inexpensive. You can easily find them at craft stores in the papercraft section.
When using cut outs as shown below, you want to make sure you secure the middle of the card too. Use a narrow tape runner, or even mini glue dots to get those narrow cuts secure.
Add Embellishments
A final tip is to add ribbon, buttons, twine or any other embellishments to your cards. It really takes the card to the next level.
