TIPS FOR USING PRINTABLES:

DOWNLOAD THE FILE TO YOUR COMPUTER.

When using printable files, be sure to download the files to your computer and open them with the programs on your computer for printing. Sometimes you might see a file opened up in your browser preview, which is actually your browser trying to interpret and show the file to you for convenience.

However, those previews are usually not a good place to actually print your files as the menu and options might be limited depending on the program. So for all the printable files I have shared on Kenarry, it’s best to download the PDF to your computer, use the FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the files, and print directly from that program.

This ensures that you see the file exactly as it was designed and you get the most options and menus when you go to Print and see the menus.

USE THE BEST SETTINGS AND BEST SUPPLIES YOU HAVE.

Technology has definitely advanced since we first had printers available at home, so even with a regular household home printer, you will be able to print beautiful, high-quality prints. It’s important to check all settings and menu options available to you and choose the highest, best quality possible.

Sometimes, we often skip over these options and just click Print, but it’s in your best interest to go through all the menus and choose the best options available to you! Remember that you can resize your printable by percentage or fit to your preferred paper size. You can also set the printing quality to Best or Maximum to get the best print quality your printer can handle.

It’s also helpful to use the best paper you have on hand, especially for greeting cards. Usually we want to use heavier cardstock and if you have matte photo paper or high-resolution papers, those will give you better quality as well. The basic idea is that the paper takes the ink better and will give you more brilliant results.

OUTSOURCE YOUR PRINTING.

Finally, if you don’t have a printer at home or don’t want to deal with the logistics of printer settings and paper types, just send the files to your local print shop! You’ll be surprised how affordable printing options are these days.

Another tip is to combine your digital printables with your photo printing. You can just as well use a design printed as a 4×6 photo on the front of a blank card, as a way to make your own greeting cards. There are many possibilities, so don’t overlook the possibility of outsourcing the printing, just as we do with our photos – especially when you need many copies or a bulk order!
