Hello! My name is Linda from tortagialla.com and I design digital printables. Today I’m sharing a sympathy card design because we all will need to express our condolences at some point. It’s not the easiest thing to approach and I think sometimes we avoid this kind of thing. But during challenging times, your friends and family really need to hear from you. So download and use this beautiful card to help you send some love.

When it comes to cards, we often think about happy celebrations and milestones. But I believe that sympathy cards are a very important aspect of correspondence and connection. Especially during challenging times in life, it’s important to express your sorrow, your care, and your support.

Using your free printable sympathy card

tips for printing cards

If you want a printable card to look just as professional as a store-bought card, there are a few tips to keep in mind. The great thing about printables is that you can print one at any time, no need to run to the store.

First, be sure to use the best possible cardstock or white paper that you have access to. The brighter white your paper is, the more brilliant your prints will appear. The heavier stock paper also holds up well for folded greeting cards.

To avoid mistakes and waste, before clicking the “Print” button be sure to check your print preview. It’s always worth the time to look over the settings and preview on your computer before committing to printing. My checklist is to always check the paper size/layout, best quality printing setting, and have a quick look to make sure everything looks right.

The extra minute you take in carefully printing your cards will give you the best results possible from a classic home office printer.

Tips for Writing condolences

After the first step of deciding to use this free printable sympathy card, the next hurdle is wondering what to write on the inside. I know that the circumstances make it difficult for all of us to find the right words to express our emotions.

My best tip on writing condolences is to keep it simple. No one expects you to necessarily be poetic or write a long essay. And to be honest, it might actually be difficult for someone to read a long-winded correspondence. So I think it’s best to keep it short, but warm and caring. I usually opt for something like:

I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m thinking of you and your family during this time and send my love. If there is anything I can do to help, please know that I’m here for you.

Finally, depending on your relationship with the recipient, there’s a lot more you can write and express. It’s definitely up to your personal judgement but be mindful with your words and be sure not to minimize the event or feelings of grief in general.

Ultimately, the act of sending a sympathy card already means a lot, so keeping your message short and direct will be fine.
