Leprechaun Printable Treat Tags for St. Patrick’s Day

If you’re having a St. Patrick’s Day party, these free Leprechaun Printable Treat Tags are just what you need. Use them with gold foil-wrapped candy or other festive treats as party favors to let your guests know it’s their lucky day!

Does St. Patrick’s Day make you think about the color green, four-leaf clovers and rainbows? Personally, I’ve always loved the fantastic tales of mythical leprechauns who hide pots of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Over the last several years, I’ve been giving my sons small bags of chocolate gold coins tied with a cute St. Patrick’s Day gift tag. A few years ago, I created “Shine Like a Pot of Gold” party favor tags as an exclusive freebie for Kenarry Idea Insiders.

Then the year after that, I made simple Happy St. Patrick’s Day gift tags with a bright green shamrock. This time, I thought it would be super cute to make leprechaun printable treat tags to go with the gold candies.

What You Need:

• Access to a computer and color printer
• White card stock
• Scissors or a paper trimmer
• A hole punch
• Green satin ribbon or twine
• Gold chocolate coins or heart shaped gold chocolates

Instructions:

Once you have the file, print the leprechaun gift tags on white card stock.

2. Cut and punch the leprechaun printable gift tags. 

After you’ve printed the leprechaun gift tags, use scissors to cut the tags apart. You can also use a paper trimmer if you have one to make the job easier.

Next, use a single hole punch to put a hole in the corner of the leprechaun printable gift tags. You’ll need the hole to tie the tags onto your St. Patrick’s Day treats.

3. Fill the Treat bags.

Now you’re ready to fill the cellophane bags with St. Patrick’s Day treats. You don’t have to use gold coins. In fact, this time, instead of gold coins, I actually had heart shaped gold chocolates leftover from the boys’ Valentine’s day cards.

One of my sons drew his own Valentines with a sheep joke and the other made the chocolates into candy spiders to go with Spider-man Valentine’s. I knew the leftover gold chocolates would be perfect for St. Patrick’s Day just a month later.

If you want to make your own treats to put in the cellophane bags, here are several homemade St. Patrick’s Day treat ideas you might like:

• Leprechaun Chow
• St. Patrick’s Day Toffee with Saltine Crackers
• Pretzel Shamrocks
• Rainbow Meringues
• Chocolate Mint Shamrock Cookies

You could also insert the tag into a bouquet of fresh flowers as a hostess gift if you’re going to a St. Patrick’s Day party.

I think it would also be fun to put the gift tag in a potted green plant and leave it on a neighbor’s doorstep like a sneaky little leprechaun. Anyone who gets your gift will know it’s their lucky day!

4. Tie the tags on the St. Patrick’s Day gifts. 

Once the bags are filled with delicious St. Patrick’s Day treats, cut twine or ribbon about 10-12 inches long. I used a thin green satin ribbon I had on hand.

Fold your twine or ribbon in half and push the folded loop through the hole in the leprechaun printable gift tags about an inch. Then pull the tail end of the ribbon through the loop.

Doing it this way, keeps your gift tags facing forward when you tie them to the cellophane bags.

Finally, tie the ribbon around the top of your cellophane bag to make a simple bow. I like to make the two sides of the ribbon into loops first. Then to tie the two loops together to make a pretty bow.
