- Set of 4 Valentine’s Day gnome plates – mine are from Homegoods
- Gnome Love Jar – similar
- Creamer and Sugar Bowl Set – check out Target Dollar Spot
As soon as I spotted these cute gnome plates at Homegoods, I immediately scooped them up. They set the theme for the entire basket.
Like many of you, I love a good Target Dollar Spot find. They have really cute things usually under $5. There seasonal stuff is really unique and affordable.
This sweet heart-themed creamer and sugar bowl set was a recent $5 Target find. You can also check out thrift stores for like-new sets.
Valentine’s Day Gift Basket Tips
Whenever I put together a gift basket, I like to include a handmade gift tag or card. It is quick to make and just adds more of a homemade touch.
I used a rubber stamp that I have had for many years, but you can also use a Cricut to make one, or just cut out a heart-shaped card to personalize.
Here are a few supplies to keep on hand that will make it simple to put together a gift basket in no time.
- tissue paper
- assorted baskets – whenever I see nice baskets at thrift stores or dollar stores I scoop them up.
- paper shreds
- construction paper in assorted colors
- assorted ribbons – stock up after Christmas to save big!
What to include in a gift basket
It’s always a good idea to decide on a theme for your gift basket first. I knew I wanted items for Valentine’s Day, but once I saw all the gnome holiday pieces, I quickly went with a cute gnome theme.
Also, decide if you want items for a kitchen basket, self-care basket, or even a food gift basket. That will make shopping for the basket even easier.
where to find gift basket items
One of my top tips to save money on seasonal items is to shop after the holiday. It is amazing to see how quickly items go down to 75 or even 90 percent off within just a few days of a holiday.
Each year I check out the after Christmas sales at Michael’s, Hobby Lobby and Homegoods. A lot of the time you can find red and white gift items that work for Valentine’s Day too.
If you are a thrift store shopper, be sure to check out the section with kitchen items. There are so many beautiful pieces, sometimes antique, that make great gift basket items.
I hope you found these gift basket tips helpful. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to create a really beautiful, and useful, gift idea.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
