Why is turmeric good for you?
Oh, where to begin? Turmeric has brightening properties and anti-inflammatory benefits that reduce acne and atopic dermatitis, it can help to reduce dark circles and skin spots, it is moisturizing the skin, and can slow down aging. It protects against environmental damage and cellular damage (anti-aging) and reduces oxidation which helps the skin repair itself faster. It is really a powerhouse ingredient!
Turmeric can be staining, if possible, you may want to look for Kasturi turmeric, which doesn’t have that issue, but it can be hard to find and is not edible. If you find that it is staining your skin, you can massage a bit of warm coconut oil onto your face and wipe it away with a cleansing pad or washcloth.
What are the benefits of clay powder?
It absorbs oil from your skin and helps unclog pores that result in pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. When used once or twice a week it helps create a barrier that holds in moisture and helps to draw toxins out of the skin.
How often can I use Turmeric Face Mask?
While the clay may be a bit too drying for daily use it is good 2-3 times per week. The turmeric may begin to stain your skin if used often.
Does the apple cider vinegar have a purpose?
Yes! Apple cider vinegar is fabulous because of its antimicrobial properties which help prevent skin infections, it can help restore ph balance to your skin, and it helps lighten skin tone and dark spots. It is best for those with oil or acne-prone skin. It also exfoliates, similar to alpha hydroxy acids.
Turmeric Face Mask DIY
Equipment
- 1 small glass bowl
- 1 Spoon
Supplies
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon Bentonite Clay
- 2 teaspoons Apple Cider Vinegar
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a small bowl until thoroughly mixed.
- Apply a thick coat all over skin, going down the neck if you like. As the mask dries it will crack, this is normal.
- Once completely dry, wash the mask away with a wet washcloth, and then apply your favorite serum/moisturizer routine.
