How to Make Bath Bombs FAQ:
What is the benefit of these ingredients?
Baking Soda- Baking soda helps to reduce skin irritation and itching, and has detoxifying benefits. Combined with citric acid it also gives the fizzing quality people love in bath bombs.
- Citric Acid– This is exfoliating for the skin and acts as a natural preservative in your bath bomb while also helping create the “fizz”.
- Epsom Salts– Are a great anti-inflammatory and detoxifying ingredient.
- Cornstarch-Softens the skin and acts as a binding ingredient for the other items.
- Coconut Oil– This ingredient is super moisturizing to the skin and helps counteract the drying properties of a hot bath.
Can I use different oils instead of Coconut?
Yes, the beauty of this easy DIY is that you can swap out ingredients. You could also use jojoba oil, argan oil, almond oil, olive oil, or rosehip oil. Save heavier oils for very dry skin and use lighter oils like jojoba for oily to normal skin types.
What scent should I use for my bath bomb?
That is entirely up to you and your preference but here are a few essential oil combinations to fit whatever you might need it for:
- Energizing– Combine Lemon and Basil OR Peppermint and Rosemary
- Improve Sleep– Lavender and Cedarwood make a great combination to relax you.
- Congestion – Mix Mint and Eucalyptus to help break up congestion and improve congestion.
- Muscle Soother- Try a combination of Lavender, Chamomile, and Eucalyptus.
- Christmas Cheer– Peppermint and Vanilla for a light bright scent or Balsam Fir combined with cedarwood for a richer experience.
- Manly Scents- Sandalwood and Cypress will give a cologne-like smell. Rosemary, Black Pepper, and Lavender are uplifting and invigorating.
How long will these bath bombs last?
Bath bombs have a good shelf life of about 6 months which means you can make a good size batch to keep yourself stocked up!
